KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID! - It’s a saying we use in the Marines a lot and it’s totally relevant to exercise as well.
Why complicate things?
This is the mindset I had in the Royal Marines for over ten years and it’s the same one I have now for my approach to training.
During my career I worked as a recruit instructor and in doing so I learnt a lot about motivating people and how one method doesn’t work for everyone. I now use my experience to train my clients. Although their goals and abilities are different the basic principles are the same, mainly it must be enjoyable!
I’m passionate about exercise and couldn’t live without it. I also love being outdoors whether it’s in the local park or up a mountain, so combine exercise with being outdoors and you have my perfect job, this enthusiasm comes through when I train people which I find motivates them.
I now work full time as a personal trainer and run circuit classes throughout the week, as well as chasing after my two young children.
